Learn to Row

The best ideas begin with the words, “I’ve always wanted to try…”

If you’ve always wanted to try rowing, we offer an entire summer of rowing options to get you started! You’ll row with experienced adult coaches and rowers on the Licking River out of our boathouse in Newport, KY, with beautiful views of downtown Cincinnati.

Our Learn to Row program is composed of three parts, with each building upon the one preceding it. Because instruction is incremental, with new techniques added at each session, attendance at all sessions is strongly encouraged.

Lifting requirement: We carry our boats to and from the river for each row. This means you must be able to lift approximately 30 lbs up and over your head and carry that weight on your shoulder.

Swimming ability: Although it is highly unlikely that you will flip a boat in Rowing 101 or 102, you must be able to swim to participate in any of our rowing classes.

Rowing 101 ~ $75

Prerequisite: Swimming certification & signed waiver

(see registration form)

Limit: 12 rowers

This 2-day class for absolute beginners teaches basic rowing technique, boat safety, and gets you out on the water in a rowing shell. You’ll be taught by experienced adult instructors who coach college and masters rowing programs.

Saturday & Sunday, May 22-23, 2021, 9 am - 12 noon @ CRC
